Your data, handled with care

We keep this to what we actually need to run the service:

• Account details — your name and email address when you register, so we can create and secure your account.
• The data you enter — your company details, clients, quotes, invoices, line items and payment records. This is your business data; you own it and you control it.
• Basic usage and analytics — anonymous, aggregated information about how the site and app are used, which helps us keep things working and improve them over time.

We use your information to:

• Provide the service — create, store and generate your invoices, quotes and documents.
• Process and manage your subscription, including your free trial and any payments.
• Support you when you get in touch, and keep your account secure.

We do not use your business or client data for advertising, and we do not send you marketing you did not ask for.

Your data lives in a secure, access-controlled cloud database. Access is scoped to your account, so other users cannot see your information and we only access it when needed to run or support the service.

We host with reputable, established cloud providers who maintain their own security and infrastructure standards. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, but no online service can promise absolute security.

Subscription payments are handled by PayFast, a South African payment gateway. When you pay, your card or banking details go directly to PayFast and are handled under their systems and terms.

We never see or store your full card details. We only receive confirmation of whether a payment succeeded so we can keep your subscription up to date.

We use Google Ads and analytics cookies to understand how people find and use Origami Finance, and to measure our advertising. These help us run a better product and a more relevant marketing site.

We do not sell your data. We share information only with the service providers we rely on to operate — such as our hosting and payment providers — and only to the extent needed to deliver the service to you.

We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so, for example to comply with a valid legal or regulatory request.

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Correct information that is inaccurate or out of date.
• Delete your information, subject to any legal obligations we have to retain it.
• Object to certain processing of your personal information.

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we remove your data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to keep certain records to meet legal, accounting or tax obligations.
